And the lineup is finalized!  The Half Hearts will open things up, followed by The Desert Vest, then Story Of The Sea, and then us.  It should be a great night, we hope to see you all there.  Party!

Hey everyone, just dropping by to let you all know we're keeping cool this summer.  We've got a show coming up in a couple of weeks at Hell's Kitchen Underground, which we're pretty pumped about, and then Nick + Nick will be doing some acoustic performances at the Kitty Cat Klub in September.  Nick Larsen will be performing songs from his forthcoming Monolog project, which will be awesome.  See you in the clubs!

In anticipation of our July 2nd blowout at the Triple Rock, The Opposite Of Your Heart, our most recent album, is now available as a "name your own price" download with no minimum amount. So you can snap that thing up for free! CD prices are also reduced. Woo!  The fun is all over at bandcamp.

Hey everyone, we had a great time playing lovely Dubuque last night, we're hurtling back towards Minneapolis as I write. After a marriage and a honeymoon, we're back in the swing of things.  Next up is an acoustic show at the Kitty Kat Club next Sunday June 5th, featuring performances by Nick and Nick, which we're pretty stoked about.  See you there!

EVERYONE!  We are so back.  I know, it's March already, but we're slow to recover from the holiday season.  We're practicing again, working out all the "ooh ahh"s and "ahh ooh"s on our newest batch of super-jams.  We also just added a few shows over on the shows page, which we hope you'll come and watch.  Happy 2011!

Loyal fans - just a brief note to say thanks for all of your support in 2010.  We're wrapping things up for the holidays, so you won't hear much from us until 2011.  We've loved seeing all of you at the shows, on the road, and buying our record.  For all of your Christmas shopping, our record is available on our site, as well as at Minneapolis area locations including Treehouse Records, Cheapo, and Electric Fetus.  Word!

Dudes, we are so ready.  We head out Wednesday AM for a few days of nonstop rock action across the Midwest.  A couple of updates: first, we had another nice write-up of some of the songs from our new record over at Ride The Tempo.  Thanks guys!  Secondly, we've added a special solo/acoustic performance by Nick at Midpoint Music Festival.  He'll be at Neon's Unplugged in Cincinnati on Friday 9/24, at 7:30pm.  Be there!  See you on the road!

Another nice review of The Opposite Of Your Heart today on Cake In 15. Thanks guys!

We've finally embraced 2010!  We're happy to announce at The Opposite Of Your Heart is now available on Bandcamp, for those so inclined.  Of course, you could just buy it directly from us (and get immediate download of high quality mp3s), but some people prefer a middle man, I guess.  Also, a few of our songs are now available on blip.fm, for all of the blip DJs to, uh, blip.

And, as a nod to the 2000's, we've also updated our Myspace page to reflect our incisive artistic vision.  It's all, like, black and white and grey and blue.  You know?

The Listeners Guild has posted a nice write-up of "The Opposite Of Your Heart", which can be read here.  Thanks guys!  We've been busy getting things lined up for our fall tour, with a new date added in Madison on 9/26 at the Frequency.  We're pumped!  Just one or two more to go, we promise to keep you posted.

A couple of press items we're excited about: Minneapolis blog Lunch Of Champions reviewed "The Opposite Of Your Heart" here.  Thanks guys!

Also, The Icy Shores were featured on The Wild Honey Pie as a "New Discovery," found here.  Thanks thewildhoneypie!

In other news, we're busy booking shows for a fall mini-tour (to correspond with our appearance at the Midpoint Music Festival), and getting all pumped up for our show at the Fine Line Music Cafe next weekend.  See everyone there!

The Icy Shores have been selected to perform at this year's Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati, OH! The festival is Sept 23-35th. We're super pumped! More info at the MPMF website here.

We've posted an alternate version of our "bird" shirt, with a slightly different design, and some missing sizes (Small shirts, XXL hoodie).  Quantities are limited, so if you've been waiting for your size to be available, now is the time.  Party is over here.

Big week last week - Thursday we played kickball with Gary from the Independent Stream podcast, recorded an acoustic version of "Old Science" for him, and did an interview for his latest podcast.  Not safe for work listening, can be downloaded via iTunes or here.  Thanks for having us, Gary!

We finished off the week playing at Ed's No Name Bar in Winona, MN with Maudlin and My Private Eye - fun show, extra warm.  Thanks to all who made it out, and to Maudlin for having  us along.

Small update: Having finally pulled ourselves together after our CD release party, we've managed to expand the music page to now include our new + old shirts/hoodies.  So, without further ado, we'd like to introduce our new/improved "shop" page, which shall supersede the "music" page.  All prices include shipping, so if you didn't manage to snap up one of our shirts at the CD release party, get them while they last!  Here they are!

Just a word of thanks to everyone who made it out to our CD release party Friday at the Triple Rock.  You guys are wonderful - we had a great time, and hope you did too.  Thanks to Middlepicker and We Became Actors, who were the perfect beginning and end, respectively, to an awesome night.  Also, big thanks to Janey Winterbauer for singing "Indian Summer" with us, Barb Abney for her constant support and encouragement, the Buell merch team, and of course Catlick Records.  The new shirts were a big hit (designed by Dan at Westwerk Design), and we're working on making them web-available for those that can't make it to a show.

In the meantime, if you haven't already, get over to the music page and get/download yourself a copy of our new record (and old one if you don't already have it).  For "now" people in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, the CD is available at Electric Fetus and other local music stores.

The Icy Shores on Showcase Minnesota, now streaming here.  Big thanks to everyone on the show for having us, we had a great time.  Now counting down to Friday night mega-party!

It's official!  Our second record, "The Opposite Of Your Heart" is released today on Catlick Records. We're super excited to release this album, and we hope that it's enjoyed by all.  The CD is available in regional stores today, so ask for it by name!  Or if you're not a go-to-the-store type, you can always order it direct from us here.  And don't forget: 10am on Channel 11 (Minneapolis/St. Paul) Wednesday we perform on Showcase Minnesota.  And, of course, 10pm this Friday is the CD Release Party at the Triple Rock.  See you all there!

It is upon us!  Putting an end to 2.5 years of making an awesome record, "The Opposite Of Your Heart" will be released Tuesday, May 4th, 2010.  Let us be the first to say WAHOOOO!!!  On the release date, the CD will be available in local outlets, and of course via our website.  In fact, there's still time to snag a non-album bonus track for pre-orderers, up until May 4th, and you'll get a download code emailed to you instantly. Pre-orderers also have the choice between mail delivery, pickup at the CD release party, and MP3-only versions.  Go here to make the magic happen:

Some other noteworthy happenings coming up:

• Wednesday, May 5th, The Icy Shores will perform live in-studio on KARE 11 television's (Minneapolis) Showcase Minnesota program.  Tune in at 10:00am to catch it - or if you have other commitments, we'll be posting a link for playback later.

• Friday, May 7th at the Triple Rock Social Club in Minneapolis, we will host our super-mega-ultra-partyish CD Release Party!  We're thrilled to have Middlepicker opening up, and We Became Actors closing the night out.  Doors are at 9:00, music should start around 10:00.  It's a 21+ event, and will cost $6.  Of course, the CDs will be moving like water, and we expect to have some awesome new t-shirts available for purchase as well.

We are very happy to announce that, as of NOW, our new album "The Opposite Of Your Heart" is available for pre-order + instant digital download on our website.  Let's talk a little bit about this record, and why it's so great:

1. Time + time + time + money = an awesome record.  We have been working on this thing forever!  In fact, when we were tracking the drums, I fell off my dinosaur and broke my wooden underwear!

2. OMG THE SONGS ARE AMAZING!  We have painstakingly weeded out all the non-primo songs that we recorded, so that "The Opposite Of Your Heart" is 100% non-stop awesome.  Massive walls of super-gurgly guitar?  CHECK!  Anthemic indie gems with breathy interludes?  CHECK!  35 minute long party?  SUPER CHECK!

3. We didn't stop there!  We pulled out all the stops on this mug!  J. Robbins (of Jawbox, Promise Ring, The Dismemberment Plan fame) gave us a mix-down!  Man-about-town Bruce Templeton gave us his best mastering!  And the album artwork is exquisite, if we do say so ourselves!

By now, you're surely just wanting to know how to give us your money.  No worries - here's how you give us your money:  go to http://www.theicyshores.com/music.php and add "The Opposite Of Your Heart" to your shopping cart.  While you're at it, also add our previous album "What You Get And How You Get It," if you don't already have it.  Then checkout through Paypal.  BLAMMO!  You're done!

When purchasing the record, you'll have these 3 choices, which you can select from at your leisure.  Obviously, if you're coming down to the CD release party (May 7th at the Triple Rock in Minneapolis), you'll want to choose the first option:

• Download now + pick up the CD at our CD Release Party – $10

• Download now + get a CD mailed to you – $13

• Download now only (no CD) – $10

We're super pumped to finally release this album - thanks for all of your support, and we'll see you all at the CD Release party!

We're pleased to announce that our new album "The Opposite Of Your Heart" will be available for pre-order RIGHT HERE on Thursday, April 15th!  The long, long wait is nearly over!  We'll be providing three flavors of pre-order:

1. Download now + pick up the CD at our CD Release Party at the Triple Rock on 5/7 - $10
2. Download now + get a CD mailed to you - $13
3. Download now only (no CD) - $10

As if that weren't enough, we'll also be including an exclusive bonus track for those that pre-order the album.  As of the album release date, 5/4, this track will disappear in a puff of smoke, so get on it!  Now!  Or Thursday, anyway.

Hugs and Kisses,
The Icy Shores

We're pleased to announce that our CD release party lineup is FINAL FINAL FINAL!  Here's how it goes, from last to first:

We Became Actors
The Icy Shores
Middlepicker

We're super excited to have We Became Actors and Middlepicker playing with us - both are great bands, and it should be a mega-awesome night.  The show details are as follows:

Triple Rock Social Club
Friday May 7th - doors @ 9pm
21+ - $6

Also, if you're on facebook and aren't a fan/friend (shame on you), there's an event so you can keep it on yr calendar.  Click here for facebook event-age.  Woo!

All of our cogs are grinding away in perfect harmony, heading toward our imminent CD release.  We've confirmed a spot on May 5th performing on KARE 11's Showcase Minnesota program.  If you miss it, you can catch back episodes on their website here.  Some new photos and t-shirts are in the works as well, so stay tuned!

Party people - thanks to all who made it out to the show at Sauce on Saturday.  We had a great time, played with some great bands, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  We also made some serious inroads in the "unusually outgoing older gentlemen with dancing shoes" market, an area that's been a real problem for us in the past.  Woo!

And finally, anyone with photos from our Sauce show or any other, please contact us so we can offer the appropriate bribes in exchange for us using your pictures.  Party!

It's been a busy couple of weeks!  We're sad to announce that our CD release will be delayed a bit, but we're super excited to announce that the date is finalized and our CD Release party is booked.  So, mark your calendars - the record drops Tuesday May 4th, with our CD Release Party ensuing Friday May 7th 2010 at the Triple Rock Social Club, in Minneapolis.  We're working on getting the rest of the lineup finalized, so stay tuned for more information.

In other news, we've done an overhaul of this site, including a fancy new mailing list that you can sign up for on the main page to stay up to date on the band's latest comings + goings.  As always, downloads of our record(s) are available on the music page.  And finally, we now have an RSS feed available for those of you so inclined.  You can subscribe to get updates whenever this site has new posts using the icon below or this link.

Happy New Year!  We've been working away on getting The Opposite Of Your Heart in the hands of our loving fans.  CDs are now in hand, and we're gearing up for a promotional mega-blitz.  In the interim, we'll be playing on last pre-CD-release show at the end of February at Sauce in Uptown Mpls, a short 300 yards from our practice location.  Show up early to see us wheeling our equipment down Lyndale Avenue!

The latest: we've been extra busy!  The record is off to press, and we're expecting to release it to our adoring public in late March of 2010.  Of course, that's sent us headlong into all the associated toil of putting a record out: getting haircuts for publicity photos, taking band photos, photoshopping our band photos, making life-sized standup cardboard cutouts of ourselves, and then bribing record stores to display them everywhere.  And all the other publicity that we do, also.  AND we're playing next Thursday at the Turf Club, so come watch!

A quick note to suggest everyone come to the Triple Rock next Saturday to celebrate 21 years of chart-busting Catlick Records releases.  Hope to see everyone there!
